Sitting pretty on Canary Wharfs riverside this revamped branch of the popular Argentinian steak chain continues to draw local workers in their droves with its stunning selection of steak professional service and vibrant atmosphere. Bathed in dim light the dining room is a sexy spot filled with cowskin-covered chairs and retro lampshades. The extensive menu features poultry fish and veg dishes but it would be a travesty to come here and not taste the beef. Our favourites steaks are the marbled ancho-rib-eye- melt-in-the-mouth-lomo-fillet- though you can try all the different cuts on the Gaucho selection board -150g of each. Ceviche including the fireand ice - lobster and king prawns served in a martini glass with a coconut and chilli dressing is a light way to start a meal and the dulce de leche caramel fondue an indulgent way to finish. The excellent if pricy all-Argentinian wine list is a further plus.

Inside gold-leaf swans glide across the black lacquered walls as waiters ferry fresh dim sum to business lunchers highlights include excellent steamed prawn har gau and flavoursome mushroom and shrimp cheung fun. Served alongside lunchtime dumplings and in the evenings is a familiar role call of Cantonese classics. Whether its old favourites of sweet-and-sour pork or something more complex such as baked Icelandic cod in Champagne sauce or hot-and-spicy veal the food offers clean fresh flavours. Service is always speedy but staff can be grumpy. Book during weekday lunches when business diners are out in force.
