The privately-owned Anderson Mound has been lovingly preserved by members of the Anderson family for over 80 years.

If you want to spend some time on a beautiful pristine island paradise, the ferry to Egmont Key State Park from Fort De Soto is a great choice for the whole family! Get ready for a day of fun in the sun. Our ferry boat operates from the Fort De Soto Bay Pier daily in the spring and summer and nearly every day in the fall and winter. The ferry ride to the island is about 45-60 minutes and offers great chances to spot dolphins, sea turtles, and sometimes even manatees! We often spot sea birds on the ride to and from Egmont Key Island aboard the Hubbard’s Ferry, our big blue boat.

Once on the island (3hrs), Egmont Key offers great shelling, swimming, and opportunities for adventures. Including Fort Dade, a fort that dates back to the Spanish American war for to explore. Egmont Key is also home to a large population of endangered native gopher tortoise!

The tours can range from 2 persons to 16 people, and are approximately 2 to 2 -1/2  hours long.  The tours will primarily operate in the protected waters and mangroves tunnels of the Shell Key Wildlife Preserve in Pinellas County. An 1,800 acre preserve, these waters are well traveled by Dolphins, Manatees, Rays, as well as a variety of shore birds, including pelicans, egrets, herons, cormorants, osprey, and sometimes roseate spoonbills. 

Please note: This activity is NOT suitable for the Elderly or the Obese, or people with back surgeries/issues, or with a history of other physical ailments. You must be physically fit for participate in this activity.

Shell Key Tour with Capt Yak

Our Shell Island and dolphin tour is fun for families of all ages, the tour includes a stop at Shell Key preserve, a popular nature preserve known for numerous different types of shells. Snorkeling equipment is available for use at Shell Island. Please note that snorkeling at the Island is not always possible due to weather conditions. During the tour we will be looking out for wild dolphins, numerous dolphins inhabit the waters around the area. Our vessel is a US Coast Guard inspected vessel carrying up to 42 passengers. The vessel is easy to board both at our dock and the beach. The boat also offers plenty of shade for those trying to stay out of the sun and it is also equipped with a restroom. This is probably the most fun you can have in Treasure Island. We mapped out a fun and safe route. The trip covers about 6 miles. This is a semi-private tour with a small group.

Begin with an introduction the the Ebikes. Then, follow your tour guide through the quiet neighborhood by our shop. Become familiar with the Ebikes in an area with little traffic as we pass by mansions and water views. 

Follow your guide through the neighborhood in Isle of Palms and then continue along Lagoon Lane towards John's Pass. Take a break under John's Pass Drawbridge. We often see dolphins swimming under the bridge, but not always. 

Next, ride to the top of the bridge and watch the sun sink into the Gulf. We will take some pictures for you.

Venture back to the starting point along the beachfront path.

This trip is a relaxing hour and a half cruise through the back protected bay waters then on the way home you get a front row seat for the sunset as the boat cruises along the beautiful gulf beaches showing you the beautiful beach hotels during the golden hour on your right with a gorgeous sunset to your left.

During the sunset cruise we turn the music up a little louder and enjoy the festivities while captain announces information about the wildlife and surrounding areas. We don’t guarantee dolphins on the sunset cruise but we do see them often and if you drink enough free beer and wine who knows what you might see!

Our guests meet us at our shop called The BoatDega. This tour takes place along the calm canals in Treasure Island. We paddle at a slow pace. We have free parking and restrooms. We launch on the floating dock behind the shop. Each of our kayaks are double kayaks. If we have an odd number of guests, we can take one seat out of the double kayaks to make it a single seater. Otherwise you will be paddling in a double kayak.

Step inside your crystal clear kayak equipped with LED's a bit before sunset and paddle into the darkness. Your tour guide will take you along the canals. Enjoy the ambiance. It's cool, calm, and quiet. The stars and the moon create a canvas in the sky, and the lights colorfully illuminate the water below.

Our belt drive bikes are some of the best bikes available in the area. There is no chain, so there is no grease or rust. It's just a smooth ride. This is a super cool spot to kayak. Prepare to meet some new sea bird friends, as they love to join the tour and catch the fish that the kayaks disturb. Truly a remarkable experience, although we cannot guarantee this will happen. There is plenty of other wildlife to see and the mangroves are really cool. You will absolutely love this tour, especially the sunset!
