INVERGORDON PORT Tour Dunrobin, Dornoch & Distillery 

Collecting you from the Port gate we travel along the shore of the Cromarty Firth and cross the Cromarty bridge to the Black Isle and make our way to Beauly Priory , the 13th century Monastery built for an order of Valliscaulian monks from Dijon in France and destroyed by Cromwells forces in the 16th Century. We will then make a brief stop to see some Highland Cattle ( see photo ) before we carry on over Culnakirk Hill to Drumnadrochit and visit Urquhart Castle which sits on a promontory jutting out in to Loch Ness , the views of the Loch are fantastic from here and it was near here where St Columba is reputed to have seen the Loch Ness Monster. We then head towards Inverness and as we come in to Inverness we pass the Hill of the Fairies. We stop to see the Cathedral and The Old High Church and we pass Inverness Castle and the statue of Flora Macdonald before we travel out to Clava Cairns and have lunch at Cawdor Castle before concluding our tour at Culloden Battlefield.

This small group tour with local Highland guides travels from Invergordon along the shore of the Cromarty Firth and makes our way to Beauly , we stop at Robertsons Farm Shop where you will see some Highland Coos .
We continue to Beauly Priory , the 13th century Monastery built for an order of Valliscaulian monks. The Priory was an ancient burial ground for the Chiefs of Clans Fraser and Mackenzie and has featured in Outlander.

This is a private and exclusive tour for you and your friends from Invergordon Port. We start our tour by taking a scenic drive north over the Struie road to the viewpoints overlooking the Dornoch Firth. The second viewpoint has been described as The Millionaires View. Continuing on we head in to the county of Sutherland and stop at The Falls of Shin where we may see some Atlantic salmon leaping the falls. We continue driving along the firth to Golspie and Dunrobin Castle , this is the largest castle in the north of Scotland and is the ancestral home of the Sutherland clan , we see a very impressive Falconry Display here. After leaving Dunrobin we drive to Loch Fleet National Nature reserve where we have the opportunity to see seals and otters and various seabirds and waders. It is a short drive from Loch Fleet to the lovely little town of Dornoch where we visit the Cathedral and stop for lunch. Heading back towards Invergordon we may stop at Glenmorangie Distillery for a tasting.

North Whisky Tour: To Highland Malt Whisky Trail +Dunrobin Castle

Loch Ness is the largest body of freshwater in Great Britain and holds an estimated 263 billion cubic feet of water. Whilst being a stunning location in its own right situated within the Great Glen (Glen Urquhart), and home to the very elusive Loch Ness Monster.

At Invermoriston we will take a short walk through a native woodland to reach the hidden gem of Invermoriston Falls which flows directly in to Loch Ness. We will have time to explore the summer house which has been described as a 'Romantic Victorian Folly', built by a former Laird of Invermoriston for his guests to watch the Salmon leaping.

Time for a lunch stop will be provided at Fort Augustus.

Invergordon Outlander 

We depart Invergordon and a journey towards our first stop, Clava Cairns, a collection of mysterious stone burial cairns over 4,000 years old. The stunning highland backdrop adds to a unique and memorable start to your excursion.

Then onto Culloden Battlefield, the site of the tragic end of the 1746 Jacobite rebellion. A deeply moving experience that brings Scottish history to life. There is an entrance fee for the exhibits within the visitors centre, however, you can walk the battlefield for free.

Our next stop is Cawdor Castle which showcases beautifully maintained rooms filled with historic family treasures, antique furnishings, and artwork. The surrounding gardens offer vibrant seasonal displays and serene walks. Enjoy post-visit lunch in the castle café.

Our final destination is Inverness, the capital of the Highlands. Enjoy a leisurely walk, discover local shops, or simply take in the vibrant charm of this Highland hub. You will then take the short journey back to port.

Wildlife Watching Boat Tour

During your tour you will see some beautiful Scottish scenery. Our first stop of the day is Clava Cairns followed by Culloden Battlefield. You may wish to walk the battlefield for free or choose to pay entry into the visitor centre. We will visit Urquhart Castle which is located on the shore of Loch Ness. Our final stop of the day is Beauly Priory with is one of three priories founded in Scotland in about 1230 for monks of the Valliscaulian order. We will stop along the way for lunch, the location can be agreed on the day. 

You will be picked up and dropped off at Invergordon cruise port. As this is a private tour you will have flexibility to amend the tour within reason, please note this is required to be done in advance of your tour date. Time permitting we may also manage to fit in a tasting at The Singleton or Glen Ord Distillery on request. 

As this tour is a Private Shore Excursion the start time will be amended in accordance with the arrival time of your ship.

Invergordon Shore Excursion
