The mines were in operation from 1971 to 1981 and it was one of the most modern mines in Europe, built with very innovative criteria for the time. At the time of the interruption of the mining activity, only 1/3 of the deposit had been exploited, despite the fact that there is still a lot of iron in the depths, available up to 250 meters below sea level.

Along the coast, we will arrive at Enfola and climb the promontory, one of the most suggestive places on the island, within the territory of the National Park. The peculiarity of this place is DAta from the fact that the promontory of Capo Enfola is joined to the rest of the island by a narrow strip of land and that here there are several historical testimonies dating back to the Second World War. We will return to the saddle along route 248, a dirt road in the woods crossing the entire hill of Serrone delle Cime, until we reach the beach of Forno
