Day-trippers you are going to love this one. This is Pula's greatest history asset, and it will blow your mind. The grandiose Amphitheater, one of the largest in the world, was built during the 1st AD under the reign of Emperor Vespasian, at around the same time as the Colosseum in Rome. The ground plan is elliptical, the longer axis measuring about 130 m and the shorter one about 100 m. This huge and magnificent structure is assembled solely from local limestone and is known as the Pula Arena.
