The Monopol Hotel is located at the confluence of Dworcowa and Dyrekcyjna street. The hotel was opened for the first time in 1903, as the ninth hotel in Katowice, so as to quickly become the most representative one and the best hotel brand in the area. In the pre-war period, the Monopol put all other hotels ahead by its modernity. There was a bathroom on each floor, and there was glass elevator to Guests’ disposal. The hotel has always been located in the center of the life of Katowice residents. Among many eminent guests of the Monopol Hotel were Karol Szymanowski, an outstanding composer who lived here in May 1934, and Jan Kiepura. Currently, each year the hotel is visited by many distinguished guests. MONOPOL is the only one 5 star hotel in Katowice. It is located in a beautiful, 100 years old building, situated in the city center at the confluence of Dworcowa and Dyrekcyjna streets. Having been completely renovated and modernized, it started its operation in September 2003. The property maintains the style and character of its original period of 1930s. There are 108 rooms, furnished mostly in art-deco style. The rooms are visibly bigger in MONOPOL than standard rooms in other hotels, what essentially increases the comfort of our Guests stay.
